Breadfruit Chips

FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites
This recipe is so simple, I almost cannot classify it as a recipe. But I am still posting it because what may seem simple for me may not be for someone else. I got a breadfruit the other day and it was so big I decided to cut it in half and make oil down with one half and breadfruit chips with the rest. The pictures are self explanatory and they do say a picture is worth a thousand words so together with this little paragraph here’s eleven thousand more :^) ha ha!! Enjoy breadfruit chips. Of course if you’re like me you may want a dip to go with the chips so you could try any of the chutneys I posted before like mango chutney, chadon beni chutney or tambran sauce.

breadfruit chips

1/2 Breadfruit thinly sliced
1 clove garlic
6 leaves chadon beni (culantro)

1 tsp salt
2 cups oil (for frying)

Cut up the breadfruit and then slice thinly
Fry until golden brown
drain on paper towels

Add salt and the rest of the chopped seasonings and mix

That’s all for now. Bye!

    I love these.
We would get roasted breadfruits when relatives visit either Trinidad or St Vincent. We would then make these and eat it with saltfish buljol……..yummy!!

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been missing breadfruit chips for more than 35 years after leaving Maui. You can’t buy them on the mainland. Export idea for you…?

I’m in Trinidad and Tobago and exporting may be costly. According to where you are you can check out an ethnic or West Indian market. I’m sure they’ll have breadfruit. Thanks for commenting :-)
