This Ham and Cheese Wheels appetizer took me by surprise. And, had me shopping twice for the same ingredients since it tasted so nicely. It seems cream cheese, when used in recipes, add a richness to the dish; and Ham and cheese wheels is no exception. These little mouthwatering tidbits add a touch of class to any event, be it a brunch or just as a snack. The cream cheese melts in your mouth and the different flavours begin playing with your palate until every last morsel is experienced.
A Trini Twist on Ham and Cheese Wheels
Just like my other recipes I decided to add a little Trini twist to make it my own. The flavours added, complemented the other ingredients superbly. And, in keeping with my promise from last post, I'll fill you in on the herbed cream cheese filling. See! I keep my promises 🙂
For this recipe I used some fine leaf thyme, parsley, chive and chadon beni among other ingredients you will see in a while. Careful attention was paid to the amounts since I didn't want the pungent chadon beni to overpower all the other flavours and aromas.
So, how long did it take to make? Only a few minutes, but to really enjoy the flavours, it has to be refrigerated and served chilled since you don't want the cream cheese to melt and become too soft.
For best results make the wheels ahead of time and only cut into the lengths and plate right before serving. These can stand upright, so there isn't any need for toothpicks, but they are optional nevertheless.
Ham and Cheese Wheels Recipe
HAM AND CHEESE WHEELS
1 pack of deli sliced ham (I used black forest)
4 oz cream cheese
2 tbsp mayonnaise
½ tbsp fine leaf thyme
1 tbsp chadon beni, chopped
1 tbsp chive, chopped
1 tbsp parsley, chopped
Take one slice of ham and spread some of the herbed cream cheese spread.
Refrigerate for one hour or until the cheese hardens.
Cut into ¾" rolls and serve.

- 1 36 slices pack of deli sliced ham (I used black forest)
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- ½ tbsp fine leaf thyme
- 1 tbsp chadon beni chopped
- 1 tbsp chive chopped
- 1 tbsp parsley chopped
- Mix the cream cheese, fine leaf thyme, chadon beni, chopped chive, parsley. Set aside.
- Take one slice of ham and spread some of the herbed cream cheese spread. Then roll.
- Refrigerate for one hour or until the cheese hardens. Cut into ¾″ rolls and serve.
