Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour sifted
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 tbsp. shortening
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • 4 tbsp.unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 egg yolk beaten

Instructions

  • Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in the shortening.
  • Pour hot water over butter and stir to melt. Add lemon juice, egg yolk, and mix well.
  • Stir liquid into dry ingredients and knead. Chill before use.
