Five Years Already!

Simply Trini Cooking has turned five and what a journey it has been so far. It’s a time for me to celebrate and also reminisce. Likened to climbing a mountain, I have a better view of things now that I’ve climbed so far up and the view is wonderful. But, as I stop to take a breather I look up to see that I still have some distance to go.

Looking back at the years gone by, a lot has been said about the hard work that has been done by me codifying and archiving Trini Recipes. I must say it is a lot of hard work but, when you enjoy what you do the work feels less burdensome. Even now as I write it’s 3 am in the morning and the cocks are crowing in the distance. That just goes to show the level of commitment I have towards this blogging thing lol!!

So what have I achieved so far that makes me feel happy? Lots, Now my recipes and articles are being published on the local newspapers (Pink Chef I read papers too. Thank you :) And, also big up to Aunty Halcie for the sweet bread recipe post. I say thank you :-) .  It means a lot to me that my work is being noticed and published by local media. but, the achievements doesn’t stop here.

I’ve also built a community website in the few months gone by, that has nutrition information on the majority of recipes I’ve posted. Ever wanted to know the calories in Curry Agouti? Now you can find out. Added to that, a few days ago I also opened up the Simply Trini Cooking Forum. So lots of building took place the last few months. Now you all know why I wasn’t posting as I normally do.

So, as Simply Trini Cooking turns five I feel contented in the progress and achievements so far. Of course, the work continues with hundreds more recipes to post. I thank everyone one who has supported me and my work over these few years. It could not have been done without you.

Anyway, I won’t keep you all too long  ….other than to say this ……..

Ah gone! :)

P.S. To all well wishers please leave a few lines. I do enjoy reading your comments :)

Congratulations to you Felix and Simply Trini Cooking. Your site have been a source of inspiration with regards to cooking. I check this site almost everytime I need to do something different or to update my cooking. I am so happy to be a part of this website. Before I found Simply Trini Cooking it was very difficult to get recipes from Trinidad.

Once again congratulations and continue to do the good work you are doing. I am impressed with the updated /new version too. God bless

    Felix,

Congrats on a milestone well deserved. I have been “maccoing” recipes for two out of the five years and my level of confidence in my cooking abilities have jumped leaps and bounds. Relatives and friends ask all the time, “Who teach yuh how to make ….” and my response is always to big up STC. I look forward to trying all the new recipes to come and worry about how to archive recipes electronically in the event that you take well earned time to pursue other interest. Congrats and Happy New Year.
